Recycling a strong theme for independent artisans

Design and craft artisans were out in force this weekend at the annual Renegade Craft fair in Brooklyn. Hundreds of talented independent vendors lined McCarren park to promote their hand crafted wares. A must see event for fans of DIY creativity, the fair is renown for showcasing exciting and original products. Paper goods, jewelry, clothing, artwork, toys and ceramics were some of the items featured. Many artists also encouraged visitors to get hands on, from creating customized jewelry, to tutorials on sewing techniques.

A strong theme across platforms was the use of recycled materials, including  screenprinted vintage purses, reclaimed fabrics transformed into new garments, and one my favorites, jewelry crafted from drum cymbals!
