Creative Collabrations-New York City

Dividing my time as an exhibitor at Surtex NYC, a trend-forward design surface pattern show with my NYC based studio, Design Works International, attending the ICFF, International Contemporary Furniture Fair, where I was part of the IFDA’s “Take A Seat” campaign which is an on going project promoting talent within the design community while giving back to local charities, (on May 27th we will auction off our one of a kind up-cycled chairs with more details on the IFDA website) and visiting the National Stationary show to view the latest and greatest in graphic design and new printing techniques…..it was a week of “Creative Collabrations”!

All three exhibitions were located at the Javitz Center at 655 West 34th Street.

Maison Objet Miami

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when I heard that Maison Objet, the French trade show for interior design that has taken place in Paris only, was having its debut in America in Miami May 2015. I decided to venture to Miami yesterday (twist my arm) and see what Maison & Objet (Americas) was all about.

Maison Objet in the Miami Beach Convention Center had just over 300 exhibitors from all over the world. The diversity ranged from high profile companies to new rising star artisans which gave the show a new twist to its more established show in Paris…think “Boutique Maison”!

The venvue was easy to navigate which left me with a few hours to explore the Miami Design District which too has grown over the years! With the success of Art Basel and the expansion of the Design District Miami does seem to be the right and natural choice for Maison in America!

Enjoy some of my highlights from my day at Maison Objet in America as well as images from the Miami Design District!

Around the Studio 1

This month we’re focusing on the various goings-on around our studio in New York City…

This week we looked at the what inspires our media choices.

Follow us on Instagram to see more in the upcoming weeks.

1

No such thing as too many colors or brushes.

2

Everything influences, no matter how tiny. It’s amazing how much you can do with black & grey

3

It’s nice to be able to touch color… we caught a case of the blues.

Las Vegas-Hardware Happiness

Hard to believe that I am in Las Vegas covering the National Hardware Show… who knew, right?

Well… actually, wrong because half the show consists of lawn and garden products and new innovations for the outdoors!

Since I curate the HGTV HOME OUTDOOR LIVING COLLECTIONS on HSN it’s important to attend these shows to see what is new both in product style and trend.

For me, I am always a fan of “Rustic Glam” maybe because I love Chip and JoAnna Gains, from Fixer Upper on HGTV!

But I also love bold color and contemporary styling for some backyard boldness…

I guess my point is… When you hear National Hardware Show…think again because half the shows focus is on lawn and garden and it ain’t just hardware!

Now you know!

See you next year in Vegas!
