Thankful for this rainy Saturday so I can catch up on life….seems like the past 28 years of growing Design Works International, our NYC based design studio, has been a non-stop labor of love…and on Monday August 1st we are officially in our new location at 494 8th Ave. (entrance on 35th street on the 12th floor)…phone number remains the 212-594-0777.
This labor of love is proud to acknowledge our amazing team of sales consultants, textile and graphic designers, interior specialists as well as trend, color and fabric liaisons.

I have been attending Hemtex (Heimtexil) the largest international textile show in Frankfurt Germany for the past 20 years. Each year the show seems to get smaller in comparison to the last both in exhibitors as well as attendees.
Most people would assume less exhibitors as well as less attendees would be a negative thing, but its actually the opposite because the people who are attending are serious buyers looking for newness in an industry that has become very homogenous over the years….but not this year!
Posting some Heimtex images for those who did not attend to get an overview of what I did see over the 4 days at the show…
Feeling the blues at Zara Home at the Zeil shopping area in Frankfurt. These patterns are from there newest home collections just in stores this week! Organic wallpaper patterns from Casamance, Nobility, Casamance and Verbatex.
I enjoyed seeing the diversity in print, pattern and product this year at Heimtex and look forward to seeing the textile industry move forward in a more innovative way experimenting in both design as well as in the construction of fabric!
We are premiering all our design collections in one week in two major cities, New York and Frankfurt.
Our HOME collection at Heimtex focuses on soft good products like upholstery, wallpaper, fabric and tabletop…while at PrintSource NY, our collections focus on paper goods, fashion, accessories and fabric with a special seasonal collection for most holidays!
If you missed us at either shows this week…stop by our NYC loft at 45 West 36th next week to preview our line of updated prints and patterns…looking for digital printed fabric, we have that as well from our sister company First2print!
Excited to announce our newest HOME Collection for bedding, wallpaper, upholstery and fabric for Design Works International! It’s our newest design collaboration showcasing traditional, global, floral and geometric offerings. Beautiful techniques with a focus on watercolor, ikat, shibori and block prints in updated and fresh color combinations.
Call us at 212-594-0777 to set up an appointment to view our latest HOME Collections.
We are proud to share an update from our sister company, First2print, about and exciting project that they participated in with Christian Siriano. Originally posted here.
The Social Imprint project used viewer tweets to inform an algorithm, which produced a graphic print design, which was digitally printed on silk charmeuse at our NY Studio, and finally was shipped to Christian Siriano who created two garments from it. This project meshed together technology, real-time social response to pop culture and fashion, and was worth the late nights preparing for a seamless production that ran parallel to Fashion Rocks at the Barclay Center. The final garments were walked down a runway at the Gilded Lilly in NYC, which representatives from First2Print were invited to attend.
