Trend Alert: The Botanical Home

Featured

Oh hey, fellow print & pattern lovers. We spent the last week checking out NY Now, Shoppe Object, and the Stationary Show. We snapped hundreds of photos while exploring and we wanted to share one of the trends that stuck out to us with you: Botanicals are still a thing.

They have always been popular since having nature-inspired art in your home can help to reduce stress while improving mood and creativity within a space.

We are seeing a pull towards larger-than-life florals that are rendered in intricate, life-like ways – creating an immersive interior experience.

Here are some of our favorites spaces:

We are so inspired by this trend and see it continuing in interior home design. Are you a fan?

Spring Flowers

If April showers bring May flowers, what do weekly nor’easters bring? Dreams, for one thing – of sunshine, warmth, and signs of springtime (disappointment and exasperation are close contenders too). Today’s four’easter on the second official day of Spring has us focusing on the bright side of the season with fresh new ways to create floral arrangements to brighten our increasingly longer days.

Inspired by the Japanese art of flower arranging, known as ikebana, these flower arrangements are fresh, modern, and unique. The centuries-old Japanese art form  focuses on spare, off-center compositions of local and seasonal flowers chosen for their clean lines and, perhaps more importantly, their symbolism.

Less structured, these modern arrangements are full, imperfect, and fun. So forget whatever you think the rules are and have some fun with your stems (and whatever else you want to pop in there). Check out the latest trend, freakebana, below, where florists are turning ikebana on its head and literally anything goes.

She specializes in trend presentations, print/color direction, color palettes, and graphics. Hunter says her input is vital in the creation of combination mixes.
