Honestly, it is not that surprising. The $69 billion pet industry has already grown three times larger than its size in 1996, and Millennials are fueling the increase. Pets are being deemed the “starter children” for millennials because of cost, freedom, and fuzzy cuteness factors. This “pets > people” mentality is directly affecting pet product.

Wait, what? It’s free?! Good afternoon, from Design Works International!

We sure had a good (actually GREAT!) afternoon exploring the Brit + Co pop-up-shop in SOHO today. Want to make pom-pom earrings? Play arcade games and eat cupcakes? How about pet with a giant sequin wall or have some Italian gelato? All of this is FREE (yes, free) this weekend.

Now, you might ask, Design Works, why is all this amazing stuff free? Well, Brit + Co wants women to feel empowered and be able to express their best self. Everything lends itself to a digital, social and experiential conversation about the GOOD that women can achieve in all areas of their life, from good food to good style to good work and good minds, and everything good in between. We think this is pretty cool!

So #CreateGood, and go check it out this weekend! Here are some of our fav things from today’s opening.

Repetitive tiles are in at Design Works International. We are inspired by soft color textured tiles… a trend that we have been following from ceramic bath and kitchen tiles. Now these beautiful patterns are seen in soft home products to compliment the hard good home sensibility.

TRENDING…Graphic Geometric Patterns on dec pillows, rugs and accent chairs.

Consider a pattern scale change when mixing prints.
This repeated geometric patterned rug is great as a focal point in the room, paired with a simple textured sofa allows you to add dec pillows with similar colors from the rug.
Black and White graphics, no matter how bold always allow you to add pops of color in any space.

Look closely..we ONLY have 2 prints and two textures in this room setting, its the different materials and colors that make this “patterned experience” work!
BOLD, graphic patterns using classic black and white with an updated mix of neutral tones on various substrates makes this print ensemble palatable.
Updated pastels mixed with neutrals on light colored grounds make this print mix fresh and fun.
