Last week we attended NY Now at the Javitz Center right here in our own NYC neighborhood to see all things print, pattern, and color. And we’ve rounded up a few of our favorites from the trends we spotted – check them out below.

We are already working on summer prints in the studio and have seen the tropical influence stretch from Germany to Paris to NYC. Here are some of our favorite tropical inspired products and prints from our travels.
Also, make sure you SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM of this blog post to see some of the fun prints our in-house artists are working on!

Check out these year-around colors we saw all over the Heimtextil show in Germany this month. They all have a subtle feel to them and work really well together, or when accenting a neutral. Say “hi” to Merlot, Deep Teal, Cobalt, & Pistachio.
Merlot is still thriving and now can be seen popping up on more textured materials like that great shag throw or a woven tablecloth.
Deep teal is a great blue-green shade that has a calming effect. It looks even more amazing when accented with bright colors (we especially like it with the lime green).
Cobalt is a playful and fun color that reminds us of the summertime. Lets all jump in the pool and relax on the beaches of the Amalfi Coast… Is it summertime yet?
Coming off of the greenery trend, Pistachio brings the outside in with this bright but calming shade. We love this color for a bathroom or entryway!
Do you like these colors from Heimtextil? We are forecasting these colors showing up on a lot of products this year. We will keep you updated!

Your grandma doesn’t understand it, it has the ability to stop traffic, and often gets a double take from people passing by. What is this “thing” you might ask? Well, let us tell you! Today we will show you our fav inspo from the undying trend of COLORFUL HAIR!
Purple, white, orange, green, grey, fuchsia, rainbow, unicorn…the list goes on and on. Hair is becoming peoples first way of expressing themselves and we can see why. It is something that is easy and fun to do that can change up your entire look within a few hours.
Thanks for checking in and staying #trendminded

We sure had a good (actually GREAT!) afternoon exploring the Brit + Co pop-up-shop in SOHO today. Want to make pom-pom earrings? Play arcade games and eat cupcakes? How about pet with a giant sequin wall or have some Italian gelato? All of this is FREE (yes, free) this weekend.
Now, you might ask, Design Works, why is all this amazing stuff free? Well, Brit + Co wants women to feel empowered and be able to express their best self. Everything lends itself to a digital, social and experiential conversation about the GOOD that women can achieve in all areas of their life, from good food to good style to good work and good minds, and everything good in between. We think this is pretty cool!
So #CreateGood, and go check it out this weekend! Here are some of our fav things from today’s opening.
Our #Shoefie’s from today.
Write what you live for and add it to the sticky wall! And treat your self to some bubblegum out of mini vintage gum-ball dispensers.
Play with some sequins! Don’t forget to make the pom-pom earrings you see on the right.
A “Yum” of ping pong balls & a little reminder 🙂
Have some fun and #CreateGood!

Design Works International is a lifestyle studio located in the heart of Manhattan that’s been helping to define and capitalize on trends for over 30 years. Originally (and still) a print studio, the in-house artists at Design Works International are busy every day exploring, inspiring, and creating to bring you original prints that are on-trend and sure to sell!
Lets put it in motion! As retail spaces are getting smaller, designers have to be more and more creative about what to do with all of the store’s product. The new design trend is building up, kinetically. Stores are bringing their displays to life while maximizing space in a small square footage. Conveyor belts and moving clothing rails are automated and add an entertainment factor. Going beyond that, displays can also hold stock in the ceiling area to free up premium floor space below.
Here are a few examples of the coolest kinetic stores right now
MCM’s latest concept store in Seoul has a conveyor belt, touch screen installations, and robotic displays.
MCM
Aether store in San Fran stacked 3 shipping containers on top of each other and created a conveyor system to carry stock between all 3 floors.
Aether
Dolce & Gabanna used kinetic design in creating a ceiling that can descend to create a special VIP room within the space.

Our favorite! Check out this moving display on our Insta @designworksinternational from Descente Blanc in Tokyo. They created a unique stock display system that can be lowered depending on what the shopper is looking for. This same practice can also be found in their larger Fukuoka Store, creating a striking visual impact.
