Traditional Methods

Yesterday and today are two fun & “important” days as it relates to what we do. Yesterday was National Pencil Day and today is Crayola Crayon Day!

The pencil and crayon are two beloved traditional methods we love along with colored pencils, watercolors, gouache and the other methods of painting. We still use these methods when we design for our original collection.

An Italian couple made the first wood encased pencil around 1560. Crayons have been around, in many different forms, dating back to the Egyptians. Crayola began making their famous crayons on June 10th 1903 and it would be hard to find someone who is not transported back to their childhood by their familiar smell.
