Hang pictures so the center of the frame sits 57 inches from the floor, which is average eye level and the standard galleries use. Above a sofa or console, leave 6 to 8 inches between the furniture and the bottom of the frame.
Hang the curtain rod 4 to 6 inches above the window frame and extend it 8 to 12 inches wider than the window on total. Choose curtains that either just kiss the floor or hover half an inch above it.
